Day 78: Reinvention

I love reading Charles Bukowski on a Saturday evening for some reason. I love how he puts everything into an undaunted perspective.

I love his his straight-up style, his no-nonsense language, the cut-deep significance of his poems.

His poetry gets to the quick of things. Simple as that. It's a welcome dose of truth. It pulls back the false veneer on life and shows its real raw core - pulsing, passionate, often cruel, but always ours and always true.

It doesn't get much more real than this.

no leaders, please - Charles Bukowski

invent yourself and then reinvent yourself,
don't swim in the same slough.
invent yourself and then reinvent yourself
and
stay out of the clutches of mediocrity.

invent yourself and then reinvent yourself,
change your tone and shape so often that they can
never
categorize you.

reinvigorate yourself and
accept what is
but only on the terms that you have invented
and reinvented.

be self-taught.

and reinvent your life because you must;
it is your life and
its history
and the present
belong only to
you.
